About the RoleA family office in Englewood, New Jersey is seeking a dependable and thoughtful Personal Chef to prepare fresh, healthy meals for a private family.If you think you are the right match for the following opportunity, apply after reading the complete description.The chef will prepare a light lunch for the principal and dinner for the family, generally five to six days per week. The role is centered on sourcing high-quality ingredients, preparing meals in a newly built professional kitchen in Englewood, and delivering the completed meals to the family's nearby residence.The ideal candidate enjoys cooking broadly healthy and varied cuisine, takes pride in using fresh ingredients, and can adapt menus based on the family's preferences and feedback. We are open to candidates from a range of culinary backgrounds, including experienced private chefs, restaurant or hospitality professionals, and talented chefs seeking to transition into a private-family setting.This is a contract role with some work from home flexibility.Key ResponsibilitiesPlan varied, balanced, and health-conscious meals in consultation with the familyPrepare a light daily lunch for the principal and dinner for the familyDevelop menus that reflect the family's preferences, dietary needs, and feedbackShop frequently for fresh, high-quality produce, proteins, and other ingredientsPackage and deliver completed meals to the family's nearby residenceAccommodate dietary restrictions, allergies, changing schedules, and special requestsMaintain a clean, sanitary, and well-organized kitchenManage ingredient inventory, minimize waste, and replenish kitchen staplesMaintain appropriate food-storage, labeling, and food-safety practicesCommunicate proactively regarding menus, ingredient availability, schedule changes, and family feedbackOccasionally prepare meals for guests, special occasions, or changes in the family's normal routineQualificationsStrong cooking and meal-preparation skillsExperience with dietary preferences and restrictions, and ensuring high-quality, healthy mealsSound knowledge of fresh ingredients, nutrition-conscious cooking, and proper food handlingExperience with menu planning, grocery shopping, and kitchen organizationExcellent communication skills to tailor meal plans and adjust recipes based on client feedbackStrong organizational and time-management skillsReliable, punctual, self-directed, and attentive to detailProfessional communication xhyhwjd skills and openness to constructive feedbackHigh degree of discretion, judgment, and respect for the family's privacyFlexibility to work both in-person and remotely as neededValid driver's license, reliable personal transportation, and the ability to transport groceries and prepared mealsPreferred, but Not Required3+ years of professional culinary experience, with private-chef, private-household, catering, or comparable independent meal-service experience preferredCulinary degree, professional training, or relevant certificationFamiliarity with high-quality food markets and specialty suppliers in Northern New Jersey or New York CityExperience shopping at New York City markets and commuting to Englewood may be particularly useful, although it is not required
